Sometimes fandom brings you new music. Most of your movies and TV shows use music to enhance a scene or help move the story along. While re-watching True Blood Season 4 “Season of the Witch” one of my favorite seasons, I came across this song that for whatever reason I hadn’t noticed when I watched it the first time around years ago.
The song was perfect for the scene it was in. I find both the lyrics and the music very haunting. It has made it onto my Amazon Playlist at #2 because I feel the tone compliments “Crystal Blue Persuasion” and the lyrics pair nicely with the next song, “Airstream Song” by Miranda Lambert.
Lyrics
Chimney falls and lovers blaze, I thought that I was young Now I have freezing hands and bloodless veins as numb as I've become I'm so tired, I wish I was the moon tonight Last night I dreamt I've forgotten my name 'Cause I sold my soul but I woke just the same I'm so lonely, I wish I was the moon tonight God bless me I'm a free man with no place free to go Paralyzed and collared tight, no pills for what I fear This is crazy, I wish I was the moon tonight Chimney falls as lovers blaze, I thought that I was young Now I've freezing hands and bloodless veins as numb as I've become I'm so tired, I wish I was the moon tonight How will you know if you've found me at last? 'Cause I'll be the one, be the one, be the one with my heart in my lap I'm so tired, I'm so tired and I wish I was the moon tonight I'm so tired, I'm so tired and I wish I was the moon I'm so tired, I'm so tired and I wish I was the moon tonight

There are many songs I like that involve the moon, The movie Arthur has Christopher Cross’s “Arthur’s Theme (The Best That You Can Do), comes to mind first, it has one of the best lines "When you get caught between the moon and New York City." Frank Sinatra sang “Fly Me to the Moon” The Police were “Walking on the Moon” and Neil Young has “Harvest Moon” while Ozzy “Barked at the Moon”, King Harvest had us “Dancing in the Moonlight” (I believe this was remade by Van Morrison) and way back when Bobby Vinton sung “Everyone’s Gone to the Moon”. Those are just a few of the moon songs I enjoy.
I hope you stop and listen to this song, maybe you will find a new song that you enjoy also. Its hard finding new music that you like these days, the radio seems to always be playing the same songs. While I do enjoy finding new music from the radio, I feel certain genres are lost and you just never hear anything from them anymore. It’s a shame we limit ourselves to certain music that way.
What songs do you enjoy that you found in a movie or TV show that you watch? Where do you find new music?
